List NON MCU Marvel Films

This is the full list* of all the Marvel films not belonging to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, MCU). For some titles, I still have to write reviews. And for some, I still have to watch and review them. So consider this a work in progress. Except X-Men: The Last Stand. I will never ever write a review for that atrocity. Just thinking about it makes me want to punch people.

* It has been pointed out to me that certain titles belong on this list and I somehow have missed. In my defence, these titles usually have once belonged to Marvel Comics, but aren't their property any more. In some cases, these titles even belong to DC. Apparently it's very common for comic books to shift owners quite regularly. Because of that, it becomes a little impossible to keep this list up to date, correct and have them branded as pure Marvel titles. I will do my best, but can't promise anything.

1944 Captain America
(15-chapter serial film; Marvel was then known as Timely Comics)
1986 Howard the Duck (Co-produced by Lucasfilm)
1990 Captain America
1994 The Fantastic Four (Constantin Film Unreleased)
1998 Blade
2000 X-Men
2002 Blade II
2002 Spider-Man
2002 Men in Black II
2003 Daredevil
2003 X2
2003 Hulk
2005 Elektra
2005 Man-Thing
2006 X-Men: The Last Stand
2009 X-Men: First Class
2015 Fantastic Four
2016 Deadpool
2017 Logan
2018 Deadpool 2
2018 Venom
2022 Morbius

No Man Thing or Steel?

It's possible I could have overlooked some titles. I will add that one. However Steel is not a Marvel title. It's from DC. So obviously that has no place on this list.

Doesn't Men In Black and Red Sonja belong to Marvel too?

Red Sonja was allowed to be used by Marvel but they don't own it.

Men in Black does seem to be owned by Marvel. I wasn't aware of this. I will add them in a separate list on the page since they aren't super heroes.

Then again, neither are Man-Thing and Howard the Duck. Okay after quick deliberation I will add those titles.

Why does no one ever add Jonah Hex to their lists

chrichtonsworld.com said...

Because Jonah Hex is DC. And I will add that one to the Live Action DC films list once I have watched it again so that I can write the review for it.

They do not. The G.I. Joe and Transformers comics that Marvel produced were under license from Hasbro, and when they lost that license/let it expire, the rights to those comics reverted back to Hasbro. This is why other publishers (Devil's Due and IDW) have been able to reprint the classic Marvel series in trade paperbacks.

Marvel/Disney has no ownership of G.I. Joe or Transformers whatsoever, and cannot make movies using those characters unless they pay Hasbro for the license to do so...which they have absolutely no reason to do.

The same goes for Kick-Ass and Jupiter's Legacy. Kingsman maybe could be added.
The thing is that some of these titles don't belong to Marvel any more. I'm almost regretting this list, since there seems to be no end to it. Although I kinda did this to myself by calling this the full list. I might change the description somewhat.
