Films like these are a bit untypical for Jackie Chan. But it is one that has a lot of impact. Jackie Chan is brought into this super-duper team of cops to bring a fresh perspective on crime fighting.
And for the most part, this is successful. Although, it takes a while for the film to kick into second gear. When it does, the action is awesome. But be warned, it's not nearly of the level one would expect. Not going to lie, I was invested from the start to the end, since the film does try to set up some exciting events in the future. Then I realized that this is a remake of Eye in the Sky (2007). The entire focus is on the surveillance and not on the action. Makes sense. And perhaps, ideal for Jackie who is getting older and older. Although, he is still capable of some excellent ass kicking.
I myself have not seen the original, but I have seen Cold Eyes, which is the Korean remake of Eye in the Sky And that one was excellent. I was already curious about the original. But now even more so. So do expect me to review that one as well. For now, I would like to state that it's nice to see Jackie Chan starring in a film that demonstrates how good of an actor he is and that he still is able to wow us.
