The first thing you will notice is that this Marvel animated movie is basically an old school anime. Where the focus lies on the action, where the characterization is average and where the storytelling and drama is superficial and incredibly cheesy. The Punisher is not a character that lends itself for that. The best scenes featuring him is where he gets the chance to be the executioner he is. Another sub plot which has significance to Black Widow could have added the much needed depth. But it's let down by sub par voice acting and bad timing. It made it real hard to take anything serious. However despite this animated movie being less serious it does highly deliver on action. And a few surprises in the finale that made me smile. I do think that it's pretty bold of Marvel to experiment like this and I do applaud it since it does brings us good action. If only they could back it with better voice acting and much better plots. Overall very entertaining if you can overlook the elements I discussed earlier.
