Review Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter (2012): Abe battling vampires. What more do you want?

genre: action, fantasy, steampunk

With a title like this you know you are heading into fantasy territory. To expect something remotely realistic or accurate would be grasping for something that never will be there. If a name like Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Night Watch and Day Watch) is attached to this production then you know what to expect. Highly stylish action tightly directed with just enough suspense to keep you hooked in. Any one hoping for character development or a deep and intriguing plot will surely be disappointed. Hello people, for those who seem to have missed it: Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. It's about Abe battling vampires. What more do you want?Do we even need more? Heck no. Since this film is fun from start to finish. In fact it is a roller coaster ride that rarely let's up. Especially the vampires are truly menacing in the way they are depicted. (That blasted Twilight franchise has ruined the epicness of these creatures, but thankfully in this movie they are scary again.) Definitely one I can recommend!

You are exactly right about how you can’t over think this movie or you will just ruin it for yourself. Just sit back and enjoy the killer action scenes that Bekmambetov delivers at every turn. If you are looking for a biopic about Lincoln you’ll have to wait until Spielberg’s comes out because this is a straight up action/ horror flick. I skipped this movie in theaters, but I decided to rent it after a coworker at DISH recommended it to me. I added it to my blockbuster @Home queue online, and it came in the mail today. I love renting quirky little movies like this because every now and then one really works, and this is definitely one of those. It does have some great vampires, and it would make for a great Halloween movie.
