These are quite unknown titles directed by Armand Mastroianni. And maybe they don't offer anything really new, but they did do what most contemporary movies nowadays lack. A good buildup of suspense with very minimal means. "He knows you are alone" is most famous for the debut of Tom Hanks. Which is a bit of a shame, really, because his role is very minimal to say the least. The movie itself has a few effective scenes that are creepy. Maybe it can be seen as a copy of Halloween. Still, what slasher movie made after Halloween isn't.
"The Clairvoyant" (a.k.a. The Killing Hour) is the better of the two because it basically is a whodunnit and keeps you guessing till the end of who the killer might be. Complete with red herrings and style. Basically, this is very much an American giallo. In my opinion, these movies deserve far more attention than they did.

BTW, if you liked these films, I can really recommend watching giallos. Most of them are excellent whodunnits:
