The Accountant was a film that seemed nothing special and turned out to be a very fun film. So naturally I was interested in this sequel.
And to be fair, for the most part, I liked the dynamics between the two brothers. Everything else though was moderate. The action in the original was good and plentiful. Now there isn't that much and not particularly exciting. The main plot also takes a dive. Actually, it's far too convoluted and messy for its own good.
So yeah, only watch this for Affleck and Bernthal being brothers.
genre: crime, action, espionage
Then there is The Amateur. You know how trailers used to give you a glimpse of what is to be? And then you would get surprise after surprise in the actual film. Nowadays, trailers give you all you could expect. But on top of that, the trailer makes it look like the film has more to offer.
It doesn't. The film has an interesting premise. However, only one that works in a short film. Drawn out over two hours is a drag. It's so boring and, worse, forgettable. I do enjoy spy thrillers in general. Even if they don't offer that many surprises. This film harkens back to the seventies, where these films were top-notch. Well, it's not the seventies any more. You really have to come up with something creative to make things compelling. I kept waiting and waiting and it never happens.
What is worse, that the film has an incredible cast. All of them are wasted, including Rami Malek.
