Originally I had intended to do full reviews on the films I am going to discuss here. But in hindsight I don't think they are worth it.
Let me start with Bloodshot.
Bloodshot (2020)
Now I am not going to pretend I had real high expectations of Bloodshot. But I was at least expecting some consistent action and feel good superhero fun. For some unknown reason they wanted this film to be all about the intrigue and make things far too complicated for it's own good. Not that it is that hard to follow. But for the most part these thriller elements so to speak while a bit clever stand in the way of the film making an impact. An origin story should motivate you to root for this character. Instead we are getting the usual Vin Diesel with his usual spiel.
Disappointing doesn't even cover it. A real waste of your time. So don't bother.
Another one you shouldn't waste time on is Like a Boss.
Like a Boss (2020)
Tiffany Haddish and Rose Byrne are on automatic pilot in this incredibly generic comedy. But I wasn't really watching this film for them. I was more interested in Salma Hayek who has transformed her looks considerably. I wished the transformation would have gone beyond her looks. While she is not bad as the villain of the story. There is nothing really outrageous about her character to make her stand out. She can do better. Much better. Apart from that the film is not funny. There was one joke that made me laugh and it's one that is shown in the trailer. The other jokes are too juvenile for words and simply too insulting for someone's intelligence.
One joke for a comedy is incredibly poor and points out the laziness to make good comedies. Don't support this trend. Avoid this at all costs!
Now here is a novel idea. I actually dislike a film solely based on the film itself and not it's political agenda. The whole feminist approach didn't bother me in the slightest Even though it misses it's mark completely. Let's review Birds of Prey shall we!
Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
Oh Boy, I don't even know where to begin with this one. And trust me I really wanted to be fair and objective as possible. But dammit. this film sucks big time!
I just don't know if it's on par with Suicide Squad or worse. In any case it's beyond bad and no fun at all. I at least had hoped to be enjoying the action scenes. Sure they are choreographed well but they are missing core elements to make them fun and exciting. It never feels there is something at stake. Actually the whole film is lacking something to make scenes have impact. All of the characters are flat including Harley Quinn. Apart from recovering from a break up and moving on with her life there is nothing compelling about her. We don't learn anything new about her. Here was the chance to show or at least point out how insane she is. Nope instead they opted for her to be quirky and fun.
Another problem is the fact that Birds of Prey hardly is about the crime fighting team. Some of the team members are featured but you hardly will get to know them or what they are about. Then why even bother with them? Same could be said about the Black Mask. He is the main villain but hardly stands out. He has an interesting history in the DC comics especially in relation to Bruce Wayne. But with Harley Quinn? The film doesn't even do a good job of explaining why he wants her dead. Then you realize he is just one of the many villains they could have picked. He doesn't really matter.
Honestly Birds of Prey easily is the worst of all the DC films. Yes worse than Batman and Robin and Catwoman. Because those at least have some redeeming elements. Birds of Prey has none!

From all the films reviewed here The Hunt is the best. But before you get your hopes up it has some flaws.
The Hunt (2020)
The Hunt is like a blend of Saw, The Purge and The Hunger Games. It starts out pretty well and manages to be quite thrilling and compelling for the first half hour. After that half hour though it falls apart and never ever delivers on it's promise.
Betty Gilpin as Crystal is a force to be reckoned with. She is like the female equivalent of Sergeant played by Frank Grillo in Purge: Anarchy. It's fun to see her kick ass. Those scenes easily are the most fun. The story and the motivation though is bad and ridiculous. Now I don't mind ridiculous if at least it went somewhere. But it's like the film is trying too hard to please multiple target groups without upsetting any of them. Or maybe it is trying to poke fun at some political views without the sharpness and wit required to do so. It could have worked had they actually committed to one political view. That way you achieve a lot more.
The Hunt had real potential to have impact and be memorable. As it is now it's just a fun action flick while it lasts.
