Review Uncommon Valor (1983): Solid action film!

genre: action, war

Uncommon Valour kickstarted the action subgenre, where Americans would return to Vietnam to rescue the ones designated missing in action.

While the idea of this subgenre seems honourable and admirable. It's not real and pure fantasy. Still, they do offer some good viewing experiences. How can you not side with people longing for their loved ones being captured and missing. Of course, we understand them for doing whatever
they can to bring back the ones that have been designated missing in action. In this case, it's the sole motivation for Colonel Rhodes, played by Gene Hackman to bring back his son.

In order to do so, he relies on the old teammates who were forced to abandon the son. While some were hesitant at first, they soon shed off whatever grievances they have to do the right thing. But before they can do so, they are required to train, since some time has passed, and they might have got rusty. It's here when they meet Scott, played by Patrick Swayze. They don't seem to respect him, but at one point he does achieve this and the mission is on.

Once in Laos, the team are met with extra obstacles but decide to power trough. The film still manages to create some tension and thrills since you do root for them to succeed, It's fun to see the old soldiers to redeem themselves after they had abandoned their old teammates.

Overall, the film offers an entertaining viewing experience!
