How is it possible this film got made? I did not have super high expectations especially after Jeepers Creepers 2. But that it would be this bad?
I am aware that a lot of fans have been waiting a long time for this third part to happen. Luckily I am not one of those fans. But after all this time this is the best they could do? The once so menacing Creeper has been reduced to a monster you can't take seriously. The events are supposed to take place in between Jeepers Creepers 1 and Jeepers Creepers 2 and make no sense whatsoever. The characters in this film make even less sense since they all suffer from that annoying disease called overacting. It is quite hilarious to see these actors take the material so seriously. They spout their lines with a lot of enthusiasm and vigour like they are in a Shakespearean play. I couldn't help but laugh. Some of the death scenes that are supposed to shock and frighten are so random and incredulous you won't be able to contain your disbelief. I was bored out of my mind and then those moments happened and I almost died laughing. I am pretty sure Victor Salva didn't intend this third entry to be like this. But how could he not see that he was mocking his own work? I mean that is basically what is going on. Every event in this film undermines the good elements of the previous parts. Actually now I think about it he might have intended this part to be more comedic. Since there is a scene where The Creeper's eye gets popped out accompanied by cartoon effects. It wasn't a mistake or accident. Victor Salva did it on purpose. But why? Was he trolling perhaps? To stick it to the people who were speaking out against the convicted child molester because of his past crimes? Only why would he antagonize the people who looked past that? Questions, questions and more questions.
The biggest problem with this third entry is that it is completely pointless. As flawed as Jeepers Creepers 2 was it can be argued that it had some redeeming qualities. Not for me personally but if I had to play devil's advocate it did look like it was building on what was established in the original by introducing some new tricks to his repertoire. In this part they kind of do the same which I must admit did provide some of the better moments. However these tricks are completely forgotten in Jeepers Creepers 2. Why would The Creeper suddenly forsake those very efficient and deadly tricks? Did he suddenly become a good sport and wanted to give his victims a fighting chance? Yeah, highly unlikely. Don't bother looking for a connection between this part and the others. Apart from the obvious and a cameo from one of the main characters in the original there is none.
If this was a TV Show you would call this a filler episode. A badly made one!
