I will briefly share my thoughts on the following films so that you can decide whether they will be worth your time or not.
Svaha: The Sixth Finger (2019)
At first glance this one had the real potential to wow me. It had a lot of angles it could have approached things from. Like be a Lovecraftian tale or going fully old school and be Gothic. Or just a very elaborate tale of deception and crime. And to it's credit it often very successfully misdirects us a couple of times. Only not in a fun way. From all the directions it could have gone in, it goes into the least interesting or creative. And to top it off it simply is not scary, terrifying or even creepy. It's quite dark. I will give it that. But not the right kind.
Door Lock a.k.a. Do-eo-lak (2018)
Another one that looked like it had all to put me on the edge of my seat. Until I realized I had seen most of it before. Door Lock very blatantly rips off Sleep Tight a.k.a. Mientras duermes (2011). I am sure it robs from other films as well but I couldn't be bothered to be all invested in it since I already had the feeling it was going to be ruined for me. And I was right. The added elements weren't enough to change my mind. But let's say you haven't seen Sleep Tight then would it be worth your time then? The problem is that Sleep Tight is quite a sophisticated psychological thriller that messes with the viewer as well. Door Lock never does this. I mean it does but not in a clever way. It for the most part is just average and predictable. You are better off watching Sleep Tight.
Missing Woman a.k.a. Sarajin Yeoja (2016)
Now this was a thriller that did most things right. The main character might fall into cliché traps and everything and she might not always be the smartest or stable. You do root for her. What she has to go through must be one of the worst things that could happen to a parent. Especially if she already is at odds with her ex husband and his mother. That guy is among the worst of fathers in film history. Anyway, once you get all caught up in the events it's a genuine thrill ride. It has some real nice twists and turns you won't be able to predict which is very nice. From the three films being discussed here this one clearly is the winner.
